Lately, the weather has been unpredictable. The day is scorching hot, but suddenly the night is rainy or it can rain for a day and the air becomes cold. The transitional season occurs only during the transition from the dry to the rainy season or from the rainy to the dry season. Changes in air and temperature affect the body more or less, because our body will automatically try hard to adjust to the ambient temperature. At that time, our immunity (the body’s resistance to the cause of disease) decreases, which often causes people to get sick in the transitional season.
In addition, changing temperatures are conditions that spur viruses and bacteria to multiply faster. So it’s no wonder more people get sick in the transitional season than with relatively stable temperatures.
The transitional season is closely related to several health problems such as flu, cough, cold, fever, respiratory problems, colds, influenza, digestive disorders such as diarrhea, and typhoid abdominals. The occurrence of these diseases is high at the beginning of seasonal changes due to the large amount of dirt that becomes a vector for disease-causing bacteria and viruses, as well as food consumption patterns. These diseases can arise due to bacteria or viruses that contaminate food or drinks.
There are several ways to prevent diseases caused by this transitional season, including here below.
- Maintain food and beverage hygiene, plus have a clean hands well after defecating or before eating;
- Be careful in consuming food, do not snack carelessly, and do not eat late.
- Drink clean and boiled water;
- Keep the environment clean, and eradicate flies, mosquitoes, cockroaches, and ants;
- Eat a nutritious and balanced diet, get enough rest, and live a regular life, to increase endurance; and
- In case of serious complaints, see a doctor immediately.
So, take care of your health to face the pandemic. (NCP/KNY)
